2005-2006 Making a Difference Award Winners
These students have demonstrated leadership skills, a true caring for others, strong school involvement and an understanding of the importance of making a difference in the world around them:
November 8, 2005 - Bannach School : Brooke Klesmith
Brooke Klesmith, a sixth grade student at Bannach Elementary, received the
Stevens Point
Kiwanis “Making a Difference Award” on November 8, 2005. The award was presented by Bannach principal John Zellmer.
November 15, 2005 - Jefferson School : Jacob Werner
Jacob Werner, a sixth grade student from Jefferson Elementary, received the Stevens Point Kiwanis "Making a Difference Award" on November 15, 2005. The award was presented by Jefferson principal Dave Lockett.
December 6, 2005 - McDill School : Laura Yonke
Laura Yonke, a sixth grade student from McDill Elementary, received the Stevens Point Kiwanis "Making a Difference Award" on December 6, 2005. The award was presented by McDill principal Dennis Raabe.
February 21, 2006 - Plover-Whiting School : Jackson Woyak
Jackson Woyak, a sixth grade student at Plover-Whiting Elementary, received the
Stevens Point
Kiwanis “Making a Difference Award” on February 21, 2006. The award was presented by Plover-Whiting principal Carl Coffman, who commented, "Jackson is an excellent role model for students at Plover-Whiting School. He is a hard-working student who always strives to do his best.
Jackson
is a mature and responsible individual and a good decision maker.”
February 28, 2006 - St. Peter Middle School : Alicia Wimme
Alicia Wimme, a sixth grade student at St. Peter Middle School, received the Stevens Point Kiwanis “Making a Difference Award” on February 28, 2006. St. Peter’s 6th grade teacher Jane Yenter commented, “Alicia is a good role model for other students. She works hard and is always willing to help others if they need help. She is a perfect candidate for this award.”
March 14, 2006 - Roosevelt Elementary School : Courtney Schwebach
Courtney Schwebach, a sixth grade student at Roosevelt Elementary School, received the Stevens Point Kiwanis “Making a Difference Award” on March 14, 2006. Roosevelt Elementary Principal Pam Bork commented, "Courtney is an exceptional student in many ways. She does very well academically, participates in sports and is a great role model for other students. Courtney epitomizes the kind of student that all teachers love having in their class." Courtney is the daughter of Mathew Erdman and Tammy Schwebach Erdman of Plover.
March 28, 2006 - St. Paul Lutheran School : Melanie Leopold
Melanie Leopold, a sixth grade student at St. Paul Lutheran School, received the Stevens Point Kiwanis “Making a Difference Award” on March 28, 2006. St. Paul Lutheran principal Sue Lilienthal commented, “Melanie has been a wonderful student for
St. Paul
Lutheran
School.
She is well respected by her peers and is a positive role model for younger students. She is certainly a fine Christian example of caring for others and understanding the importance of making a difference in the world." Melanie is the daughter of Jeff and Lori Leopold.
April 4, 2006 - Washington Service Learning Center : Ahna Butt
Ahna Butt, a sixth grade student at Washington Service Learning Center, received the Stevens Point Kiwanis “Making a Difference Award” on April 4, 2006. The award was presented by Washington principal Bill Carlson.
April 25, 2006 - Kennedy School : Stephanie Wiernik
Stephanie Wiernik, a sixth grade student at Kennedy School, received the Stevens Point Kiwanis "Making a Difference Award" on April 25, 2006. The award was presented by Kennedy principal Pete Werner.
