Making a Difference Award
The Kiwanis Club of Stevens Point sponsors a unique community award for area sixth graders who have demonstrated to their teachers and principals a commitment to helping others and making a positive difference in their schools. Often these students have made a positive difference in our community as well.
Each principal and his/her staff in eleven area public and parochial elementary schools have the opportunity each year to define the positive difference and select the student from their school who will receive the award.
The student, his/her parents and his/her principal (or teacher) are invited as guests of Kiwanis to a lunch meeting of the club. At the meeting, the student is presented with a framed award certificate and a gift certificate redeemable at any Portage County business.
The Kiwanis Club of Stevens Point is honored to recognize the positive impacts and achievements of our young people, and we view this award as one of the most valued and cherished programs of our club.
